Frequently Asked Questions

At McGarry Memorials, we understand that choosing a memorial for a loved one is a deeply personal and often emotional process. Our goal is to provide clear, compassionate guidance at every step, helping families make informed decisions with confidence and peace of mind. To support you on this journey, we have gathered answers to some of the questions we are most frequently asked.

Whether you are selecting a headstone for the first time, exploring bespoke design options, or seeking clarity on installation and maintenance, our FAQ section is here to help. If you cannot find the information you need, our friendly and experienced team is always just a phone call or message away, ready to offer personalised assistance and expert advice.

It is best to wait a minimum of 6 months. If the strip foundation fitted by the council is already be in place, this will allow the memorial to be fitted much sooner.

Yes it is, we will produce a printout to scale of any inscription or designs so that you can proof read this and make any changes if necessary. It is also possible to change your mind at this point as we will not engrave the memorial until we have your signature of approval.

Once an order has been placed we expect delivery to take place within up to 24 weeks. It may be sooner than this depending on shipping times. Once we have received the stone we will then start work as soon as possible. If your memorial is in stock it would most likely be completed in 6 to 8 weeks as long as the foundation has been completed by the said cemetery.

The rules of Health and Safety have changed in the last few years; we also have to make sure that existing memorials now comply with The National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) code of practice. This ensures that their memorials can no longer fall or be pushed over. All new memorials are fitted with the NAMM accredited Anchor System at no extra cost.

We are also British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons (BRAMM) registered fixers. All work must comply to the British standard BS8145.

We will travel to most areas provided that travel expenses are paid. In previous years we have been commissioned to erect new memorials as far away as Ireland and Scotland.
